Your Opportunity

  • As a Mechanical Technologist, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and technologists on multiple projects, of varying complexity and size, for a range of public and private sector clients. You will participate in the detailed design and construction administration for the mechanical system (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Process Piping) of a project to help translate designs into reality. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the calculation, selection, specification, and detailing of all mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Process Piping)

  • Assists in the coordination of mechanical system design and specifications within the context of the multidisciplinary design team

  • Responsible for reviewing own work for overall technical accuracy

  • Utilizes BIM technologies (2D and 3D) in development of models of the building mechanical systems and receive markups or direction from senior engineers / designers.

  • Preparing construction drawings/documents

  • Ensure the assurance of quality, consistency, and integrity of all deliverables and communication.

  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineers and Technologists within the engineering group in recommending the best use of project tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with the project tools.

  • Assist with periodic field reviews of construction and construction administration tasks (conduct shop drawing reviews, respond to RFIs, prepare documentation for site instructions, or change requests).

  • Provides preliminary drawings/sketches/notes for projects, redlines, and plans for submittals.

  • Performs thorough quality control of construction documents and provides design ideas and solutions.

  • Responsible for design of projects of smaller complexity and size, with guidance from senior engineers.

  • Lead or champion workflow improvements within the team to improve internal design or production processes and to better ensure quality, consistency and repeatability.

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to work with others on large complex projects.

  • Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.

  • Ability to work independently with engineering supervision on small to medium projects

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.

  • Proficient in relevant software programs including AutoCAD and REVIT.

  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical codes and standards

  • Experience as a design team lead in projects an asset.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.

  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

  • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and proactively initiates appropriate corrective actions.

  • Understand and work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.

  • Comply with Stantec's EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field.

  • Strong desire to learn and work in a team environment.

  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of

Already has government security clearance or the ability to pass security clearance in Canada is a requirement.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 70,200.00 - Max Salary $ 101,900.00
