Your Opportunity

Stantec's GTA based team is currently seeking a Transportation Engineering Professional

  • Senior Project Manager to join our team of project managers, technical staff, and multi-discipline specialists in the completion of environmental assessment, preliminary and detail design of transportation infrastructure projects. You will lead a team of professionals in the planning, design and construction of large-scale municipal projects in our growing roads and transit-based sector. The projects will be in various phases from environmental assessments and conceptual planning, through design, construction, and occupancy.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects as a PM for Environmental Assessments and Detailed Design Projects. Managing the approved scope, budget and schedule are of utmost importance.

  • Lead the Design Team consisting of the Engineers, Scientists, Planners, Coordinators, Schedulers, and other consultants.

  • Create innovative ideas and approaches to re-evaluate and improve our business.

  • Promoting and overseeing our safety program and overall safety culture.

  • Day-to-day project oversight and communication with the client and project team.

  • Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the project schedule and budget throughout all phases of the project.

  • Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.

  • Leadership and oversite of our safety program, quality reviews, plan reviews and inspections.

  • Understand and assist in the negotiation of contracts of all parties to the project.

  • Oversee approval of all invoices and change orders associated with the project.

  • Evaluate, advise on and assist in resolving disputes and claims.

  • Regular collaboration with colleagues in our multi-disciplined design office

  • Financial management of projects and resource allocation

  • Business development support and leading proposal development.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Project Management Professional Designation PMP is an asset.

  • Excellent communication and Leadership skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients, and contractors

  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while work independently

  • A strong work ethic with the desire to excel, inspire and to achieve

  • Willingness to learn and a motivated team player

Education and Experience

  • Ideally 15+ years of experience in Transportation Engineering, Environmental Assessment Process and Approvals, Conceptual Design. Engineering, Technical Advisory Related Work or Construction Management.

  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma or university degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or approved equivalent combination

  • Registered Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario PEO or with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.
