Your Opportunity

Our Markham office is currently seeking a Senior CADD Designer – (Transportation) to join our team, to provide drawing leadership on various transportation projects. The individual will be responsible for setting up and maintaining drawings for multi-disciplinary assignments support our Roads and Transit teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Participating in the design and preparation of engineering drawings and displays

  • Establish and Prepare project-specific CADD and drawing standards and setup guidelines for multi-disciplinary projects

  • Establish drawing delivery and interface requirements in consultation with clients

  • Setup, manage and maintain project collaboration software (E.g. ProjectWise)

  • Communicate effectively in writing and speech with staff at all levels including outside consultants

  • Train personnel on the usage of CADD standards and project collaboration software

  • Provide ongoing support and direction for project CADD personnel

  • Auditing and enforcement of project CADD standards

  • Engineering calculations

  • Organizing and maintaining a design and CADD digital file database for each project

  • Creates and enforces CADD Standards on a project-by-project basis.

  • Other related duties as assigned "

"Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Advanced knowledge in MicroStation and AutoCAD is required

  • Advanced knowledge of Inroads, Open Roads and Civil 3D

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients and contractors

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Word and Excel is required

  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while work independently

  • Mentoring, coaching and training staff

  • A strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieve

  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to others.

  • Familiar with Ontario Provincial Standard contracts and details

  • A self-starter who can work unsupervised.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or approved equivalent combination of

  • Minimum 10 years of CADD drafting/design experience in an engineering consulting environment preferably Transportation related.

  • Member with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
