Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists with Stantec for a Construction Supervisor. We are seeking a highly motivated person who will provide project supervision for highway construction, including quality management, record documentation, survey and volume determination, cost control and reporting, inspection services for compliance with drawings, standards, and specifications.

The position's qualifications include the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with strong presentation skills; strong project/program management expertise; understanding of infrastructure design and construction and the ability to perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans and designs of roads and structures, monitor site activities, verify on-site testing, and contract administration.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to highway construction methods including constructability, grading & paving

  • Knowledge of C Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) Standard Specifications for Highway Construction and Major Works Construction Agreement, application, and interpretation consistent with Ministry practice.

  • Excellent working knowledge of highway survey, design, construction, paving, and maintenance practices and standards, Worker’s Compensation Board Occupational Health & Safety Regulation, highway construction equipment, engineering survey/layout and drawing/plans, inspection procedures, quality management and auditing, contract management and administration.

  • Knowledge of mechanics of materials and knowledge of structures, geology and hydraulics.

  • Knowledge of construction projects issues related to quality management, traffic management, and public safety.

  • Knowledge of contract document preparation & project cost tracking

  • Experience in project supervision, ensuring consistency with BC MOTT practices

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills as it pertains to liaising with other consultants, other Ministries, individuals, and outside agencies

  • Arrange, facilitate, and document project team meetings

  • Serving as the client liaison to manage individual road construction projects the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.

  • Position will primarily work in a field office setting with travel.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Must have current experience in inspection/ supervision of highway road construction projects.

  • Significant experience with road construction supervision and management of medium to large and complex projects

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and specifications.

  • Experience with Quality Control / Quality Assurance Program development and implementation.

  • Ability to supervise and lead small to medium sized multi-discipline working groups.

  • Strong client interaction and relationship skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Technologist and or Construction Management, equivalent relevant experience or combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience.

Pay Range:

• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 112,300.00 - Max Salary $ 168,500.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
