Your Opportunity
In the role of Civil Designer, this individual will work as a team member on small- and large-scale projects alongside a Lead Engineer, as well as intermediate and junior technical staff. The Civil Designer will support the development of all phases of design and deliverable preparation, including coordination with other disciplines, to meet project quality requirements and milestones as required.
The Stantec Community Development group in British Columbia provides services to both private and public sector clients across the province. Your Key Responsibilities
With the support of a Project Manager / Civil Engineer, performs more complex engineering-support / design tasks on assigned civil infrastructure including the design and preparation of civil models (alignments & profiles, corridor modelling, grading, stormwater, pipe networks, etc.) using a variety of software, engineering drawings, quantity take-off’s, and contributes to engineering reports as required. Collaborating with other engineering disciplines and supporting technical staff for production of designs and drafting support which includes developing drawing packages and ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations
Responsible for quality reviews of design deliverables.
Prepares designs at various levels, conceptual, preliminary design, functional and detailed design, tender and construction ready; and provides support through the construction phase of projects.
Experience with municipal and provincial authorities for both technical criteria as well as permitting would be an asset.
Broad civil design experience across a number of sectors (including roads, buildings, land development, and airports) would also be an asset.
Support with preparation of team design processes & standards
Teaching & providing mentorship to other design team members as well as junior staff
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Effective communication skills and aptitude for technical leadership within the group.
Strong ability to effectively identify and discuss project issues within Project Teams and at times in front of Clients and stakeholders as required on a project-by-project basis.
Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.
Understanding of project scoping, task identification and resource assignments, scheduling, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
Willingness to provide mentoring and share technical knowledge with junior designers to support the growth and technical excellence of the team.
Thorough understanding of applicable design guidelines and codes for relevant jurisdictions.
Strong understanding and proficiency in the use of relevant design software, which includes AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Autoturn. With good understanding of Microstation, and Revit. Knowledge of CAiCE software would be an asset.
Education and Experience
Engineering Design and Drafting Diploma, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Position will primarily work in an office setting. Stantec is also prepared with the infrastructure available to support individuals working from home. Field work may be required and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 91,800.00 - Max Salary $ 133,100.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
