Your Opportunity
The role of the Senior Civil Engineer is to work on complex and exciting projects both independently and as a team member. In this position you could work as a technical engineer, project technical lead, project manager or a combination of roles to guide the projects to successful outcomes for the communities we work with. As a senior engineer, people leadership skills are important to work on multi-discipline teams and to mentor younger staff both technically and professionally.
Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible to oversee small and large projects of high complexity, performing technical design tasks, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.
Provides technical leadership for civil related projects and may serves as Engineer-of-Record on several projects.
Perform Project Management and/or Project Technical Lead duties on projects with managing project teams and financial performance of project budgets.
Perform client account management and development duties to grow the business. Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects. Support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, assisting/writing proposals, participating in client interviews and supporting negotiations for project contracts in British Columbia.
Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Efficient project management and project technical lead duties on multiple concurrent projects.
Understand client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high quality deliverables.
Technical expert in many relevant areas of design and understanding of various design and construction methods, codes and standards.
Strong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. Thorough understanding of Metro Vancouver design standards is preferred.
Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of the project, checking accuracy, quality and completeness.
Strong communication, presentation and interview skills.
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of services
General understanding of software as well as relevant discipline software programs (AutoCAD, Civil3D, PCSWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD, REVIT, others) is a plus, but not required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia (or able to obtain EGBC registration).
Minimum of 12 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. In office a minimum of 2 days per week.

Pay Range:
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 101,500.00 - Max Salary $ 152,300.00
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 107,600.00 - Max Salary $ 161,400.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
