Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join the Integrated Design team. The successful candidate would have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detail engineering projects in North America and across the world. This role would provide an opportunity to be a part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth.

Specifically, we are looking for a candidate that is fluently bilingual in English and French to support work with our Quebec-based teams.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. As a Mechanical/Piping Designer, you will be responsible to work on various industrial projects. This role involves design work under minimal supervision. You would be relied on to make sound mechanical designs, and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Apply design skills to prepare or coordinate the preparation of contract drawings, sketches, and concept design through to construction.

  • Collaborate with Mechanical group members, other Stantec disciplines and clients to achieve project success, acting as a project team member or a project lead.

  • Successfully carry out assignments on project design teams.

  • Effectively communicate with other team members in the department or project team.

  • Manage and lead mechanical aspects of a project.

  • Provide technical expertise, mentoring and support to team members.

  • Drawing preparation using AutoCAD, Plant3d, Inventor, Solidworks, Revit, AvevaE3D, Microstation, etc.

  • 3D modeling and design of piping and mechanical systems.

  • Data collection and verification in our client’s facilities.

  • Preparation of isometric drawings.

  • Field representation and drawing interpretation.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • At least 10 years' experience in the industrial consulting industry.

  • Bilingual in French and English is a must

  • Strong collaborative skills while working with a single or multi-discipline team.

  • Strong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead project teams and activities.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bilingual in French and English

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Understanding the importance of complying with Stantec’s Employee Health and Safety (EH&S) program, with a focus on safety in the field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office specifically in Windows maneuvering, Word, Excel and Access is an asset.

  • Ability to work in an environment of constantly changing technology and project assignments.

Education and Experience:

  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least 10 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
