Your Opportunity

In the role of Senior Revenue Accounting Manager within the Financial Services team, the individual will work in close collaboration with the North America Operational Finance team and Operational Business Leaders, providing comprehensive financial leadership and partnership throughout North America.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Vice President, Financial Services, North America Operations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the management of the external audit process, including review of auditor requests for reasonableness, cascading of assignments to appropriate team members, monitoring of activity completion, and the review of documentation as required.

  • Review and approve journal entries per the revenue adjustment approval matrix.

  • Oversight of the Canadian and US vehicle taxable benefits in partnership with the fleet management team, tax and payroll.

  • Partner with other members of the Operational Finance Leadership team and Corporate Reporting and Technical Accounting groups to provide oversight of North America-wide revenue recognition including design of Project Accounting and Revenue (“PAR”) controls, review and maintenance of the PAR internal controls narrative, and maintenance of the Revenue Recognition Practice and other related guidance documents.

  • In the event of PAR control compliance questions or deficiencies, the position will have responsibility for completing the deficiency assessment and other related documentation and developing and executing the remediation plan.

  • Review of Contract Assessment Templates and revenue recognition assessments (no provisions).

  • Engage in the growth and development of the BOU Finance and Project Accounting by developing and facilitating training on relevant topics

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration between groups that would benefit from discussion as well as collaborating with other members of the Finance and Corporate Teams.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis & reporting as requested.

  • Lead Client liaison on all Client audit matters and internal coordinator with Account Managers and Project Accountants.

  • Participate in governance calls on major projects as requested to contribute to a consolidated major/risky projects quarterly report.

  • Support acquisitions as required including review of existing revenue recognition and internal controls in order to assist in a successful transition to Stantec’s systems and processes.

  • The position may occasionally require stepping in to perform the duties of other Senior Finance Managers or Finance Directors.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong technical accounting, specifically in the area of Revenue Recognition, and SOX understanding, and an ability to research as questions arise or new guidance is released.

  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to clearly present quantitative and qualitative information to all levels of management.

  • Demonstrated maturity and ability to develop relationships with senior levels of management. Credibility, professional integrity, with a strong business acumen and ability to respectively challenge and ask tough questions is required.

  • Client-focus in the delivery of services within a fast-paced, results-oriented environment while being both proactive and responsive and ability to work independently to meet firm deadlines and manage multiple competing priorities.

  • Strong financial, analytical, and organizational skills and expert financial modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills and comfortable with navigating without a road map.

  • Strategic modelling experience with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Oracle (or other large enterprise system). PBCS / Smart View experience would be a definite asset.

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of ten years’ related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, designation, and related experience.

  • Public Accounting professional experience is preferred, and either a CPA license or an advanced degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • Big Four consulting experience is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
