Reporting to the Associate Director, Liquidity Stress Testing, the Senior Analyst contributes to the success of the Liquidity Stress Testing team within Group Treasury by supporting the build-out of an internal stress testing framework focused on funding and liquidity risk. The team is responsible for developing a stress-based funding view that enables proactive liquidity management across the enterprise.

 

This role supports a strategic and agile approach to Group Treasury’s liquidity risk framework by conducting thoughtful analysis and cross-functional collaboration to ensure liquidity buffers align with risk appetite and funding strategies. It also ensures all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures, reinforcing the robustness of our liquidity strategies and the effectiveness of our risk management framework.

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will:

 

  • Assist in developing internal liquidity stress views and support assumption enhancement and review activities.
  • Support the creation of risk mitigation and liquidity optimization strategies under guidance from senior team members.
  • Contribute to presentations and documentation for senior management and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Validate data inputs and outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency across stress testing models.  Ability to think critically and challenge assumptions where necessary.
  • Conduct periodic market research and analysis to recalibrate stress test assumptions, staying informed on emerging risks and best practices.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve reporting and analysis processes, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate report development, maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners, including Technology and Treasury.
  • Understand and apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities.
  • Uphold Scotiabank’s values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adherence to operational, compliance, and conduct risk controls.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, STEM, or related field; Master’s or CFA designation is an asset.
  • 1–3 years of experience in financial services, preferably in risk management, treasury, or related areas.
  • Demonstrates a proactive and analytical mindset, with keen attention to detail and a commitment to thoughtful problem-solving.
  • Experience in liquidity reporting and data analysis; familiarity with LCR, NSFR, and NCCF is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Balance Sheet Management and Capital Markets products is an asset.
  • Technically proficient in Excel, with exposure to data tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, or Tableau.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
