Purpose

Drive the future of Scotiabank through data. As Senior Manager, Data Lead, you will be instrumental in designing and delivering high quality data products that empower data-driven decision making towards the advancement of Scotiabank business priorities, with a focus on Digital Banking. You will have additional opportunities to contribute to other business lines. We’re after a bold thinker – curious, forward-looking and has an enterprise-first mindset. 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture. Understands what brings value to the business and is invested in the bank’s success by delivering the most effective data, analytics and insights. 
  • Collaborate with Digital Banking, Marketing, Analytics and Engineering teams in creating Data Products. 
  • Establish data governance and drive accountability. 
  • Understand business needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements for engineering. 
  • Lead the identification of the most appropriate data sources for each use case, with a strong emphasis on understanding the meaning and context of the data. 
  • Drive data management implementation (metadata, data quality control, lineage) in collaboration with the wider data team. 
  • Develop subject matter expertise in data, systems, and business processes. Over time, become the go-to expert for colleagues seeking insights and guidance on your data domain. 
  • Contribute to improving data best practices and turning novel value-add activities into repeatable processes. 
  • Support other domains as required.

  • Curiosity and desire to learn whatever it takes to deliver. 
  • Resilience and creativity. 
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills. 
  • Data management experience/knowledge. 
  • Technical skills: SQL, Python, Data Visualization tools 
  • Familiarity with Digital Banking business processes, data and technology is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with process engineering/lean/six sigma is a plus. 

Work Arrangement: Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Travel may be required on an exception basis.
