Salary: From 100 to 120 per Hour
 
We are seeking a Data Architect to play a key role in shaping and delivering enterprise-wide data architecture solutions within a major transformation program. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and managing data models and platforms that ensure data quality, security, accessibility, and governance, while enabling advanced analytics, AI/ML readiness, and business intelligence.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who can bridge the gap between business and technology, ensuring that complex data environments are aligned with organizational needs, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Architecture Design & Data Strategy

  • Lead the design and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.

  • Develop enterprise data strategies, including backup, storage, and recovery systems.

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with industry standards.

  • Oversee ETL development and integration across multiple platforms and sources.

  • Define future-state data architecture roadmaps aligned with digital transformation goals.

  • Embed privacy-by-design and security-by-design into all data architectures.

Governance & Artifact Management

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards (e.g., FIPPA, PIPEDA).

  • Maintain enterprise data asset inventories, metadata, and taxonomies.

  • Develop and oversee Master Data Management (MDM) practices.

  • Collaborate with security, privacy, and risk teams to embed data retention, classification, and access controls.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as the key liaison between business, IT, analytics teams, and vendors.

  • Partner with solution architects to create and maintain high-quality architecture artifacts.

  • Present data architecture solutions at review boards and stakeholder meetings.

  • Provide input during vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and data-related RFPs.

Evaluation & Problem-Solving

  • Assess and recommend emerging technologies for data management and integration.

  • Conduct code reviews, performance assessments, and gap analysis across systems.

  • Evaluate cloud-native and hybrid platforms for scalability, cost, and sustainability.

  • Support data migration and modernization activities, ensuring minimal disruption.

Project Planning & Guidance

  • Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to data professionals.

  • Champion best practices in data lifecycle management.

  • Define cutover and migration strategies that minimize risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Professional certifications in data architecture or related domains (e.g., CDMP, TOGAF) are an asset.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in data architecture, including relational, dimensional, and NoSQL modeling.

  • Strong expertise in database management, data warehousing, ETL, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).

  • Familiarity with BI and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).

  • Solid experience with data governance, metadata, and data quality management.

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise IT ecosystems (applications, middleware, infrastructure, networking).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Detail-oriented problem solver with strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment with occasional high-demand periods.

  • Flexible work arrangements (hybrid/remote may be available depending on project needs).
