Position: National Account Manager
Location: Brampton, ON (Hybrid – 3 days in office)
Duration: Contract - 9 months
We are currently recruiting for a National Account Manager on behalf of our client, a well-established leader in the consumer goods industry. This is a contract role covering a leave of absence, and offers an exciting opportunity to drive strategic sales initiatives with a major national retail account.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in managing retail relationships, with a focus on category growth, sales planning, and cross-functional collaboration. This role will work closely with internal teams including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Finance, and Category Management to support the execution of customer strategies and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Account Management
Develop and execute annual account plans, including customer business reviews, joint planning sessions, and new product launch strategies. Build and maintain strong relationships with buying and merchandising teams to support execution.
Category Development & Sales Execution
Leverage consumer insights, market trends, and data analytics to drive category growth. Develop compelling customer-focused proposals and strategies in line with broader business goals.
P&L Ownership
Full responsibility for managing the account-level P&L, including trade spend, allowances, discounts, marketing investments, and rebates. Evaluate the financial performance of promotions and programs to maximize ROI.
Forecasting & Demand Planning
Partner with demand planning and supply chain teams to create and maintain accurate sales forecasts. Contribute to internal S&OP processes, ensuring strong in-stock performance and alignment with demand.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with internal stakeholders across functions to align on product launches, marketing plans, promotional activities, and customer programs. Serve as the internal advocate for the customer, ensuring cross-team visibility and alignment.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Analyze sales performance, retail metrics, and shopper insights to identify risks and opportunities. Present insights and strategic recommendations to internal leadership and customer stakeholders.
Trade Spend & Program Management
Manage trade investment budgets in collaboration with finance and marketing teams. Monitor compliance with trade terms and continuously seek optimization opportunities.
Key Requirements:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in account management, sales, or category development within the CPG, FMCG, or consumer durables sectors.
Experience managing Walmart accounts is a MUST.
Strong understanding of trade marketing, POS systems, and syndicated data tools.
Proven track record in managing category-level P&L and executing customer business plans.
Experience working within a live trade accrual system.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
