Our client is seeking a security-focused Systems Administrator to join their growing IT team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings deep technical expertise across servers, networks, and cloud-based infrastructure. As a key member of the team, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and securing both on-premise and Azure systems, implementing best practices, and ensuring operational reliability and security across the organization.
This position is based at the company’s head office in Port Coquitlam, BC, and requires full-time, on-site work. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain IT security policies, procedures, and system hardening standards.
- Manage and monitor IT infrastructure, including on-premise servers, Azure IaaS/PaaS, and Office 365 services.
- Lead patch management, system updates, and endpoint protection efforts across the organization.
- Own Azure and Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Azure AD.
- Manage backups and disaster recovery protocols for on-premise, Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to network, servers, and cloud systems.
- Support and secure virtualization platforms (VMWare and Hyper-V).
- Oversee firewall configurations, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus/EDR tools.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation for systems, procedures, and configurations.
- Educate staff on IT security best practices and contribute to ongoing awareness initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support secure, efficient business operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field — or a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Systems Administrator.
- Proven hands-on experience with:
- Windows Server and Active Directory
- Azure services (VMs, Azure AD, App Services, Networking, Storage)
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
- Endpoint management and policy deployment
- Virtualization technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V)
- Security tools (antivirus, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners)
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and identity access management (MFA, privileged access).
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
