Our client is looking for a talented and experienced Property Accountant to contribute to the success of a leading real estate firm. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties and ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial packages. This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and requires on-site work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Prepare accrual and adjusting entries and assist with year-end procedures.
Respond to financial and accounting inquiries from Property Management.
Provide financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting as requested.
Prepare bank reconciliations for an assigned portfolio.
Reconcile and file GST remittances.
Review tenancy agreements or commercial leases for accurate billing and compliance with financial terms.
Process move-ins and move-outs.
Ensure tenant information is accurate and up to date, including reviewing and posting rent rolls and processing monthly PAPs.
Prepare CAM reconciliations and annual budgets.
Coordinate and provide support during Trust audits.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial property accounting role.
Experience with technology and accounting systems within a real estate environment; experience with Yardi is preferred.
Experience in reviewing and interpreting commercial leases.
Strong knowledge and practical application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and full-cycle financial statement preparation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, adept at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities, capable of handling competing priorities within tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on producing accurate, high-quality documentation and deliverables.
Adaptable and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to recommend and implement process enhancements.
