Agilus is recruiting for an Oversight Electrical engineer in the Oil and Gas industry in a hybrid work environment in Edmonton /Calgary, Alberta.
This role will own and manage the relationship and contracts with Engineering services providers (ESP).
A typical day:
Lead the design review process with internal and external stakeholders ensuring regulatory requirements, code and company’s specifications, standards and procedures are followed including Process Hazard operability and constructability perspective
Lead the specification and requisition of materials by reviewing vendor materials quotations, evaluate technical bid evaluations and provide recommendation based on technical merit along with price and delivery. Collaborate with Supply Chain to procure material via internal tools
Support planning and scheduling during design and procurement phases of the project
Manage ESP to incorporate red-line markups into as-built drawings
Supports the development of the project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, and risks during the project development phase
Support Operations with any incident investigations after project handover
Provide technical support during all project phases, including project development, design, construction, and commissioning
Reviews lessons learned from past projects and incorporates recommendations into future designs promoting a standardized, programmatic approach where possible
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering and Professional Engineer designation with APEGA, or eligibility to register
Proven planning, organizational, problem solving, decision – making and negotiating skills, supplemented with a practical proficiency
Strong facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation skills to influence and drive-forward results and decisions without formal authority
7+ years progressive experience in designing power distribution systems for Oil and Gas facilities, with hands on experience in the analysis of control schematics for power equipment (ex: medium voltage switchgear/motor control centers, electrical switchgear buildings, PLC systems, medium voltage VFDs, instrumentation knowledge of pressure and temperature transmitters, SCADA), controls, and integration. Knowledge of power distribution systems for cooling facilities would also be a benefit
Strong working knowledge of national codes (CEC and NEC) and industry standards such API, IEEE, UL, etc.
Effective and professional interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
