We’re working with our healthcare client on a 6-month contract opportunity for a Senior UI Designer. This role follows a hybrid model with the option to be based in Toronto or Ottawa.
The Senior UI Designer will provide coverage within the User Experience department for the remainder of the fiscal year. Reporting to the Team Lead, Visual Design, this role will focus on shaping and maintaining CIHI’s visual identity and UI standards across digital products, tools, and platforms. The Senior UI Designer will provide creative leadership, ensuring consistency with CIHI’s brand and accessibility standards while collaborating with UX designers, the Visual Design and Data Visualization teams, and other internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, update, and maintain UI design standards and visual identity.
Act as the lead designer for digital products, web pages, reports, and branded materials.
Partner with UX and visual designers, content teams, and subject matter experts to deliver cohesive, accessible designs.
Guide internal teams and external vendors to ensure high-quality, brand-aligned outputs.
Provide creative direction, feedback, and quality assurance for design work across teams.
Support the User Experience leadership team when required.
Introduce design innovations, best practices, and maintain industry knowledge.
Create templates and tools for use across the organization.
Ensure all deliverables comply with WCAG and AODA accessibility standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or diploma in UI/graphic design or related field.
5+ years’ experience in visual and UI design for digital products and services.
Strong expertise with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Microsoft Office.
Solid knowledge of UI/UX principles, design systems, and user-centered design.
Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS for front-end design.
Strong understanding of accessibility requirements (WCAG, AODA).
Experience with data visualization best practices.
Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in hybrid teams.
