Our client, a prominent public sector organization in Toronto, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Contract Specialist to join their Commercial Management team on a long-term contract basis.

About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be the central point of contact for all post-award contract activities. You will work collaboratively with internal departments and external vendors to ensure all contractual obligations are met efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Administer the full lifecycle of awarded contracts, including scope management, amendments, extensions, pricing revisions, and close-out activities.
Coordinate and lead post-award meetings with vendors and internal stakeholders, such as contract kick-offs, performance reviews, and training sessions.
Monitor and ensure vendor compliance with contractual obligations, including performance metrics, delivery timelines, quality standards, and warranty requirements; initiate corrective actions when necessary.
Proactively resolve post-award issues and disputes related to pricing, invoicing, delivery, and contract interpretation.
Process contract amendments, scope adjustments, and budgetary increases, ensuring all changes are meticulously documented and approved according to internal protocols.
Track, analyze, and report on contract expenditures, commitments, and departmental usage to ensure budget alignment and identify trends.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports on contract and vendor performance for senior management.
Manage invoice processing, ensuring validation against contract terms and timely internal approvals.
Support contract renewals, including exercising extension options and managing end-of-term transitions or close-outs.
Maintain accurate and organized contract records in accordance with corporate retention and audit requirements.
Collaborate across departments to identify opportunities for cost savings and process efficiencies through contract consolidation and strategic sourcing goals.
What You Bring
A post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g., Business, Law, Supply Chain Management) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in post-award contract administration principles, methods, and best practices.
A thorough understanding of contract law and commercial document management, with a focus on enforcing obligations and managing vendor relationships.
Proven experience managing complex vendor relationships and contract performance, including compliance reviews and issue resolution.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to produce comprehensive reports and narratives for senior-level review.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Proficiency in using office technology, software, and applications, including SharePoint.
