The Indigenous and Community Partnerships Unit of the Legislation and Community Partnerships Branch oversees a diverse range of mental health and addiction initiatives focused on child/youth and Indigenous populations. The unit supports implementation both through the execution of grant funded projects as well as through management of priority initiatives. The unit works closely with key partners and stakeholders to understand opportunities and issues occurring in the addiction and mental health sector and advises government on policy responses.

Role Responsibilities

The Indigenous and Community Partnership Unit is currently seeking three agile and driven Senior Policy Analysts to support the planning, implementation and monitoring of grant-funded projects and initiatives.

Reporting to a Manager in the Indigenous and Community Partnerships Unit of the Legislation and Community Partnerships Branch, the Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:

 

  • Project Management: Applying project management techniques and tools to assigned projects, adjusting project priorities and plans accordingly to effectively and efficiently achieve high quality, sustainable results.
  • Grant Management: Managing multiple child and youth/Indigenous focused grants from proposal, agreement, and monitoring to close-out, and providing sound advice to guide implementation of the project and upholding stakeholder accountability to deliverables.
  • Engagement: Fostering sustainable, positive working relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders to further ministry priorities. This includes participating and representing the ministry on committees and working groups, as well as facilitating meetings.
  • Issue Analysis: Conducting thorough research and policy analysis, including consolidating stakeholder and partner perspectives, to inform child and youth/Indigenous mental health and addiction policy and program implementation.
  • Briefing and Reporting: Leading and preparing recommendations and briefing materials for decision by senior leadership. Reporting updates, outcomes, issues, opportunities, and next steps to leadership about the unit's work.
  • Communication Support: Providing input to meeting materials, correspondence, speaking notes, and other communications documents as requested to support department business goals.

Qualifications

University degree in a health, human services, social sciences or public administration, and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience.


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

    • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
    • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Required Experience:

  • Project management
  • Grant management
  • Partner and stakeholder engagement
  • Research and policy analysis


Assets:

  • Experience in child/youth focused health or social services, and/or addiction and mental health services.
  • Experience in Indigenous health or social services, and/or addiction and mental health services.
  • Experience in government and policy processes is an asset.

Notes

There are three temporary positions. Two positions focus on Child and Youth, and one focuses on Indigenous supports.

 

Working days are Monday – Friday, 36.25 hours/week – 8:15 am to 4:30 pm.

 

Location – Edmonton.
