The Role 

 

Contributes to the overall success of Customer Insights, Data & Analytics (CID&A) in ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The function of a Manager, Data Governance is to review a domain’s data management activities, conduct data risk assessments, provide subject matter expertise, and drive continuous improvements to maintain strong data governance practices.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be involved in:

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank’s relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Actively contributes to enhancements of the Bank’s data management program to ensure alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory requirements and business opportunities.
  • Reviews data management activities completed by business domains to ensure a domain has successfully implemented their data management requirements.
  • Conducts data risk assessments through the NIRA and TPRM programs to ensure data risk is measured and suitable risk mitigation action plans are implemented.
  • Serves as a liaison between key stakeholders and the business line Chief Data Office teams for data governance activities. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide data governance support and guidance on the Bank’s data governance and data management program, tooling and procedures. 
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Advocate for a strong data governance culture within the organization by promoting best, training stakeholders, and supporting continuous improvements in data governance.


Dimensions

 

  • The incumbent must be fluent in both Spanish and English
  • This role requires an understanding of data governance leading practices and strong knowledge of the Bank’s data policy and standards
  • Previous experience with using Jira and Confluence 
  • Experienced with using complex Excel functions 
  • Experience in data governance initiatives, policy and standards and providing guidance and support to business domains
  • Ability to exercise good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Project management skills in order to handle diverse projects, often simultaneously, and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to increase operating efficiency and produce high quality technical solutions
  • A high level of interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills necessary to relate to other people

  • Post-secondary education:  University degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience, preferably in a bank / financial institution
