The Return to Work Specialist reports to the Manager,
Case Management and Pensions, and promotes a team approach to return to
work. The incumbent works with
employers, injured workers, service providers, the WSCC, and other Stakeholder
by providing RTW advice and expertise including; reviewing and providing input
into return to work plans, identifying modified/alternate duties and return to
work program development, implementation and evaluation.
As the primary subject matter expert, the Return to Work
Specialist works with employers to ensure they understand and meet their
obligations to ensure a safe, well managed, return to work. Additionally, this position is responsible for
monitoring programs and continually striving toward improved claims management
performance through the development and implementation of proactive case
management and prevention focused initiatives.

The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) is a government agency responsible for administering the Workers' Compensation Acts, Safety Acts, Explosives Use Acts and the Mine Health and Safety Acts.
Together, with their partners, the WSCC provides services to almost 40,000 workers and 4,000 employers across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, processes over 3,000 claims annually, and conducts over 1,000 inspections annually to ensure the safety of northern workplaces.
