Purpose


GBM Onboarding Canada is a critical component in the bank’s overall AML Compliance efforts.  The Manager manages a team of Analysts onboarding customers to GBM, ensuring we meet Enterprise-Wide and local onboarding standards, including regulatory requirements and bank-driven due diligence measures. The Manager also ensures Analysts investigate and assess relationships for potential financial, reputational, operational and compliance risk in addition to activities that pose money laundering or terrorist financing risks for GBM clients.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Support the Associate Director, in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with regulatory obligations and bank-driven risk measures.
  • Manage a team facilitating the onboarding of GBM Canada clients in an efficient, compliant, and client-centric manner, rapidly triaging and escalating complex issues to management for resolution.
  • Provide clear, constructive and regular feedback to analysts, with a focus on personal and professional development. 
  • Facilitating training and/or improvements to guidance, procedures, processes, technology etc.
  • Prioritizing requests for information, establishing response times and escalating requests as required
  • Championing a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Acting as a Tax subject matter expert to the business and internal stakeholders for FATCA CRS QI and other international tax treaties.
  • Serve as the primary relationship point of contact for bank-approved Custodians, Depositories, and Tri-Party agents, supporting strategic business decisions related to new ventures and market expansion.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Custodians, Depositories, and Tri-Party agents and negotiate terms, and manage contracts to align with our business strategies and ensure seamless workflows.
  • Conduct regular service reviews and assess the performance of Custodians, Depositories, and Tri-Party agents to enhance the quality of service provided to the bank.
  • Performing ad-hoc, special, and/or focused data analytics as necessary, as well as other duties and projects as assigned, to support various GBMO projects.
  • Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Promoting Diversity and Inclusion groups within the bank and sharing opportunities to participate.
  • Work in partnership with internal stakeholders to deliver FATCA CRS QI regulatory requirements. Demonstrate knowledge of documentation requirements necessary to address regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate FATCA CRS reporting and conducting due diligence to ensure no late payment penalties are levied for GBM jurisdictions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Prior experience in financial services with focus on tax regulations.
  • University degree in business, finance, law or other relevant field preferred
  • Experience with cash management and/or retail business experience or Capital Markets Regulation experience (IIROC) and/or Dealer Member experience
  • Proficient with MS Office with experience in data analytics
  • Knowledge of current and anticipated regulatory frameworks impacting client onboarding and documentation review.
  • Knderstanding of global banking and capital markets business is desired, as is a client-centric approach to the role. Broad knowledge of the end-to-end workflows among the Front, Middle, and Back Offices.
  • Preferred: CAMS or tax related certifications

 

Work Arrangement: Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Travel may be required on an exception basis.
