We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Senior Manager, Finance & Analytics to join our team at Scotia Global Asset Management Finance. This role blends financial leadership, advanced data analytics and business intelligence to support decision-making and drive operation efficiency. The Idea candidate will play a critical role in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business insights, leveraging tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, and automation technologies to optimize processes and enhance reporting. 

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  1. Automation & Process Optimization

 

  • Lead process automation efforts to improve efficiency in financial forecasting, reporting, and budgeting
  • Optimize financial Power BI dashboards and develop scalable data models
  • Support the continuous improvement of the finance reporting ecosystem
  • Evaluate policies and processes and provide leadership on team to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Lead in developing, and actively champion departmental and corporate goals to deliver efficient analysis and timely information to internal customers.
  • Supports the Director in the information gathering process and analysis for strategic and tactical projects and ad-hoc requests by Senior management

 

  1. Data Analytics & Business Intelligence

 

  • Utilize Power BI, Alteryx and automation tools to develop dashboards and improve reporting efficiency
  • Extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources, including the enterprise data hub
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and structure to support accurate and reliable analytics
  • Identify trends in investment products, industry data (IFIC statistics, market share etc) and internal financial performance

 

  1. Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting
  • Prepare and deliver reports on business line/product-level financial performance with actionable insights
  • Partner with business leaders and finance teams to align financial strategy with business objectives

 

  1. Developing & Coaching Talent
  • Provide strong leadership to Finance team by providing strong leadership, clear and open communication, setting expectations and accountabilities, and providing opportunities for development
  • Ensuring expectations including accountabilities, objectives and goals are effectively negotiated, communicated and monitored for team
  • Ensuring employee development plans are in place and completing semi-annual and annual performance reviews for all direct reports
  • Ensuring there is fair and equitable treatment of employees in keeping with the bank's
  • Creating and encouraging open lines of communication for all staff to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
  • Lead problem solving sessions for team to promote critical thinking culture on team.
  • Coach Managers and Seniors to problem solve effectively to improve efficiency on team.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • 7+ years of experience in financial planning, business analysis, or data analytics roles.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, asset management, and investment products
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
  • Strong knowledge of the securities and financial services industry (ie investment funds industry)
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SQL and Excel (Power Query, DAX, VBA)
  • Understanding of data visualization best practices, and automation
  • Experience with Alteryx or other analytics tools is an assets
  • Highly detailed-oriented, with the ability to work under own initiative
  • Strong ability to translate financial data into strategic insights for non financial stakeholders
  • Ability to build strong business relationships and drive collaboration across functions
  • University undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or other data analytic related field;
  • Minimum 5 years in accounting / analysis function;
  • Broad knowledge of Bank's asset management products and services
