We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our Toronto Development Team. In this role, you will design, develop, and enhance our suite of software applications while helping shape the future of our architecture, coding standards, and best practices. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor junior developers and contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented team environment.

What you’ll do

• Influence technical decisions that impact the design and development of software products.
• Build, maintain, and deliver high-quality software for multiple projects using modern programming practices.
• Collaborate within an Agile team, ensuring efficiency, quality, and suitability of product features.
• Debug, maintain, and review code daily, solving technically challenging problems with creativity.
• Provide assistance with escalated support through analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of customer issues.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation as needed.
• Mentor and support junior developers, sharing knowledge and best practices.

What you bring

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of proven full-stack web development experience.
• Strong background in:
• Frontend: React
• Backend: Python, Node.js (or similar)
• Databases: MongoDB, MySQL
• Web Servers: Nginx, WebSockets
• Build Tools / DevOps: Vite, CI/CD pipelines
• Security: OAuth, JWT, CSP
• Solid understanding of modern web design trends and techniques.
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative working relationships.
• Effective time management and the ability to balance independent work with teamwork.
• A thoughtful, balanced approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.

Bonus skills

• Experience with computer graphics, WebGL, or WebAssembly.
• Hands-on exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of geoscience software applications.
• Strong interest in mathematics.
