The Role 
  

As part of the Data Catalog (Universal Catalog) team within the Enterprise Data Management team, the candidate will work with all key stakeholders to support, train and increase the user adoption of Universal Catalog (Scotiabank’s enterprise metadata repository). The Manager, Data Management role requires strong project execution and information management skills, stakeholder management skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a can-do attitude. Business knowledge and experience in banking would also be considered a strong asset.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will: 


Product Strategy & Alignment 

  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to interpret and prioritize roadmap initiatives. 
  • Ensure Data Management operations align with broader business objectives. 
  • Champion the Data Catalog product across the organization to drive awareness and adoption. 

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement 

  • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and implement scalable, sustainable solutions. 
  • Design and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and frameworks. 
  • Monitor KPIs and use insights to drive continuous improvement. 


Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, change management, and business stakeholders. 
  • Manage expectations and coordinate communications across cross-functional teams. 
  • Ensure operational processes and product updates are documented and communicated effectively. 

User Enablement & Support 

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Data Catalog, supporting users through training and guidance. 
  • Lead product enablement initiatives to scale user engagement. 
  • Provide ongoing support and feedback channels to improve user experience. 

  

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Familiarity with the Data Management and Data Governance concepts along with metadata and data lineage 
  • Understanding of tools for building information catalogs that offer features such as data catalog, data ingestion flows, data lineage, process flows, consumption searches, etc.  
  • Strong experience in gathering business requirements, then translating them to technical requirements and user stories  
  • Strong experience in agile project methodology and artifacts, on software/application development lifecycle in an agile fashion  
  • Strong process documentation to identify Collibra workflow requirements  
  • Productivity/Project collaboration tools experience: Confluence, Jira, SharePoint  
  • Effective communication skills (i.e., spoken/written/presentation) to engage a wide array of users to elicit requirements and feedback  
  • Self-motivated to solve problems and able to work collaboratively with other team members  
  • Strong analytical skills to articulate requirements to the product delivery team  
  • Self-initiated to anticipate the business user/Stakeholder/Team’s needs and execute the tasks effectively  

  

Nice-To-Have Skills:  

  • Experience in large-scale and complex governance solutions  
  • Other metadata management tools such as Talend, IBM IGC, Alation, Collibra etc.  
  • Cloud platforms and related data services knowledge (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services)  

  

Education/Experience:  

  • University degree in computer science or a quantitative field
