Location: Downtown Toronto, 4-5 days onsite for training, then 2-3 day onsite
Our nonprofit client is expanding their accounting team and seeking a meticulous Accounting Assistant to support a variety of financial and administrative processes. This role works closely with accounting, finance, and operational teams, contributing to day-to-day financial activities, budget preparation, and payment processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support accounting operations through data review, reconciliation, and verification of financial documents
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and review of budgets and related financial reports
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of submitted forms, reports, and invoices, following established guidelines
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve discrepancies and maintain up-to-date financial records
- Assist in preparing payments, maintaining records, and responding to inquiries related to financial transactions
Qualifications- 1–2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related role
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or equivalent
- Strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping is an asset
Team EnvironmentThe Accounting Assistant will be part of a growing finance team, reporting to the Accountant and working in close collaboration with a Financial Consultant and other operational staff.
