Job Title: Metadata Technician (Entry-Level)
Duration: 6 Months
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $17.35/hour
Location: Etobicoke
About the Role:
Our client is seeking an Entry-Level Metadata Technician to support media asset metadata and inventory management. This role plays a key part in handling metadata production services such as media intake and output, barcoding, scanning, and database updates. The Metadata Technician will report directly to the Studio Manager or Studio Supervisor and will work closely with studio and business teams to ensure accurate asset processing and tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process inbound and outbound media assets
- Conduct metadata collection—manual and automated
- Identify media formats and perform inventory ingest
- Use barcoding and asset box scanning systems
- Support metadata systems upkeep, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Assist with research related to media format and metadata identification
- Maintain detailed work logs, asset tracking, and chain of custody records
- Deliver high-quality output and ensure accurate digital file creation post-digitization
- Provide project support across various studio initiatives
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with analog and historic media formats (e.g., negatives, transparencies, slides, posters)
- Understanding of FileMaker or similar tracking databases
- Basic experience with scanning and inventory systems
- Comfortable with both Mac and PC environments, plus Google Suite tools
- Knowledge of archive organization, digital file handling, and backup solutions
- Strong time management and multitasking skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
