Agilus is recruiting for a Cost Estimator III in the Oil and Gas Sector in Edmonton, Alberta.
This position is accountable for supporting the development of a multi-billion-dollar project portfolio spanning the energy sector. The work involves the use of cost engineering best practices and processes for the estimation of a wide variety of projects.
A typical day:
Recommendations are reviewed for soundness of judgement but are usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible; atypical or specialized problems may be referred to senior technical staff.
Support development of multidisciplinary projects across liquids, gas, gas storage, gas utility, power (solar, wind farm, battery storage), carbon capture and various acquisitions.
Prepare capital cost estimates including contingencies, market escalation, cash flow and benchmarks to support future project economic evaluation.
Support various cost engineering reports and special studies using scientific principles and techniques, while ensuring the quality of inputs and outputs.
Provide support and input for estimating tool updates due to standard changes, industry practices, recent project experience, etc. as required.
Liaise with other departments including supply chain, cost control, and area managers to ensure effective and accurate cost information is being used in the estimates.
Decision-making is guided by applying standard procedures, may make modifications of procedures or use methods developed in previous assignments.
Successful candidates will have:
7+ years of relevant construction industry experience and/or degree/diploma in Engineering
Strong computing skills including proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, CoPilot, Word)
Familiarity with AACEI (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International) recommended practices
Experience using estimating-specific software (including Cleopatra or Timberline)
