The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect, and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.

As a Senior Child Intervention (CI) Practitioner, you will be engaged in the implementation of the organizational goals and an active participant in decision-making and collaboration amongst colleagues, CI families, programs, stakeholders, and leadership.
The position is a senior working level practitioner responsible for child intervention activities and performing the full scope of duties of the role. This position is considered an expert in all competency areas of the field of Child Intervention and applies extensive theoretical knowledge and regional/provincial program expertise to lead in the field of practice, enhancing the lives of children, youth and their families. This position will provide support to other CI Practitioners through mentoring and supporting the organizational goals of Children’s Services.
You must demonstrate proficiency in the application of the Signs of Safety tools and in its philosophy merged with the Practice Strategies. You will have a lead role, with minimal supervision, in managing complex cases such as joint police investigations involving physical and sexual abuse, or other complex child intervention cases.

Requirements:
The successful candidate must have been Delegated Category 7 within the last 24 months under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act in Alberta and must have the related skills, abilities, knowledge and experience to be delegated. Also, there is an expectation for this position to provide on-call/afterhours services on a regular basis as part of their delegated duties under the CYFEA.

Related university degree can include Bachelor of Social Work, Social Work Diploma, Bachelor of Child Studies/Child & Youth Care, BA Education, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Human Services, BA/BSc Psychology, BA Sociology, Bachelor of Community Rehab, BSc. Family Studies/Human Ecology, BA Early Child Development, Law Degree.
Related diploma can include Addictions/Counseling Diploma, Child and Youth Care Diploma, Human Services Diploma and Criminal Justice Diploma.

Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time).
The successful candidate will be required to participate in on-call/after-hours rotation (evenings and weekends) to ensure the needs of Albertans are met.
