Our prominent public sector client in Durham Region is looking for a Senior IT Patching Specialist to lead strategic improvements in patch management tooling and compliance visibility. This role is not hands-on patching, but rather focused on optimizing tools, aligning reporting systems, and enabling consistent, enterprise-wide compliance views.
This will be a 3 month term to start with potential for extension.
This will be a hybrid role with some on site work required, on a needs basis.
You will work closely with endpoint, security, and patching teams to evaluate and refine tools like SCCM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager), Intune, Right Click Tools, and Patch My PC. The goal: build an accurate, centralized view of patch compliance and enhance automation, integration, and reporting capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Assess and enhance existing patching tools to ensure consistent visibility and reporting across all systems.
Create dashboards, reports, or tool integrations that provide a clear and unified view of patch compliance.
Address and resolve discrepancies in patching data, visibility, and targeting.
Collaborate with IT teams to gather business requirements and deliver tool-driven solutions.
Leverage PowerShell scripting and APIs for automation and enhanced tool integration.
Support audit and compliance efforts by ensuring accurate and trustworthy reporting.
Promote best practices for patch monitoring and compliance consistency.
Skills & Experience:
5+ years of experience in IT patch management or endpoint administration, with a strong focus on tooling and visibility.
In-depth knowledge of SCCM, Microsoft Intune, and Patch My PC.
Proven experience building patch compliance reports or dashboards.
Proficiency in scripting (especially PowerShell) and working with APIs or data pipelines.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address complex reporting and tooling challenges.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across diverse IT teams.
