This is a unique opportunity to work within a progressive Financial Planning (FP&A) and Pricing team supporting the Automotive Finance business line in Canada.  Be part of leading team financial professionals as we pioneer the “beyond Excel” approach to FP&A using market leading AI-infused software!

 

We are looking for a top analytical mind capable of delivering high quality business support to our Automotive Finance team. This includes providing accurate forecasting, comprehensive pricing models, and efficient data processes re-design. 

 

Canadian Banking Finance is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical support to Canadian Banking Executive Management, as well as to the Business Line Management in Retail Banking, Small Business, Automotive Lending, Commercial Banking and Tangerine.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

 

Financial Planning and Forecasting

  • Complete the annual profit planning processes and monthly forecasts for presentation to A&F Senior Management and submission to Canadian Banking Finance
  • Oversee the design, development and maintenance of key financial models, schedules and graphics to support current and new business analysis
  • Build strong relationships and interact with stakeholders across the forecast and planning process (including Automotive Finance, Canadian Banking Finance, GRM, Treasury, and Capital Management) to ensure deadlines are met and forecast information is accurate
  • Be the primary contact and support to all managers and staff with respect to profit plan budgetary enquiries
  • Play a key role in the implementation of FP&A transformation projects

 

Pricing Models and Operations

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of existing models and methodology
  • Keep up to date on best practices in financial modelling and analytical methodologies
  • Regularly review methodologies, assumptions, calculations, and data sources used in the existing models
  • Provide recommendations to Senior Manager, Pricing & Finance, AF product teams, and Senior Management for any required changes/improvements
  • Work with other departments to develop and enhance pricing and profitability models as required
  • Ensure new/enhanced models are adequately tested

 

Reporting Processes Re-design and Analytics

  • Review existing data/Excel reporting processes making recommendations to improve their efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain a fundamental knowledge of Automotive Finance’s data assets and systems which currently includes various data sources from: Datamart (in Enterprise Data Lake - EDL), Access databases and Excel
  • Implement approved process re-design solutions using the data processing tools available (Python, Alteryx, Excel)
  •  

Accuracy of Financial Information

  • Oversee the design and development of accuracy/reasonability review processes, including analysis of portfolio/balance sheet, net interest income, NIM, PCL, expenses and key performance metrics
  • Identify main drivers of interest profit and expenses at the business unit and product levels
  • Provide meaningful and relevant analysis and commentary for monthly and quarter-end reporting (including the Blue Book) and other management reporting

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • University degree (Finance, Analytics or quantitative discipline)
  • CFA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, forecasting and analysis best practices
  • Strong knowledge of the banking industry with demonstrated analytical skills. Knowledge of Automotive Finance products is desirable
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills; attention to details; ability to analyze business results and identify issues and trends
  • Strong communication skills to convey key messages, both verbal and written with a proven track record of building presentation material for a senior executive audience
  • Strong attention to detail in updating and developing pricing financial models, system enhancements and to ensure a consistent quality of financial reporting
  • Ability to multi-task, deliver under tight deadlines and re-prioritize effectively
  • A solid understanding of data visualization best practices to create compelling financial dashboard
  • Demonstrated experience in reporting processes re-design to increase data efficiency and accuracy
  • Advanced user proficiency with applications: Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and any other analytical tools are preferred (e.g. Python, Alteryx)
  • Prior experience working within an Agile team and/or system implementation is considered an asset
