The Senior Manager, Client Risk Rating (CRR), Global ML/TF Risk Detection contributes to the overall success of the Global ML/TF Risk Detection team, specifically to the Enterprise Client Risk Rating (CRR) program, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
The Senior Manager works closely with Directors, Senior Managers, 1st and 2nd Line, and a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver strategic advice that solves Client Risk Rating-related challenges through research, analysis, compelling strategic recommendations, and execution monitoring.
Client Risk Rating is deployed globally across all the Bank’s lines of business: Canadian Banking, Global Wealth Management, International Banking, and Global Banking and Markets.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champion a client-driven culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day management of issues or requests that are brought forward by end-user teams, to identify issues that should be escalated to Problem Management or warrant engagement with other support teams from source, technology, or data.
- Manage the process of submitting non-discretionary enhancement intake forms to obtain technology estimates of work for business-as-usual (BAU) initiatives.
- Be responsible for supporting the monthly management and governance of the Client Risk Rating Oversight Committee.
- Manage the day-to-day issues or requests that are brought forward by end-user teams, to identify issues that should be escalated to Problem Management or warrant engagement with other support teams from source, technology, or data.
- Initiate and actively participate in the project management end-to-end process through the various phases from requirements gathering through implementation, followed by post-implementation support.
- Effectively manage employees that are direct reports, as well as other junior team members on the broader team when responsible for projects or deliverables that require additional resources.
- Be responsible for the submission of non-discretionary enhancement intake forms to obtain technology estimates of work for business-as-usual (BAU) initiatives.
- Lead a dedicated workstream(s), which includes documenting requirements for new rules/enhancements via rule design guidelines, drafting business requirements, rule testing, effectiveness reviews, model review/tuning, reviewing all testing documents (strategy and exit reports), BAT/UAT/PIV, and engagement with relevant teams responsible for execution.
- Be responsible for putting together quality and detailed materials, while also displaying the ability to confidently present materials to senior leadership at various forums, which include, but are not limited to, the Client Risk Rating Oversight Committee and other committees.
- Be responsible for supporting the Canadian Banking, Global/Canadian Wealth, and Tangerine lines of business for BAU and project matters.
- Engage and update Internal Audit on audit issues assigned to Global ML/TF Risk Detection on a regular or ad hoc basis.
- Draft and be responsible for the handling of internal audit issue closure submission packages.
- Independently lead and manage conversations regarding new risks, products, and typologies with teams including Canadian Banking, 1st line partners, and globally.
- Actively identify opportunities and resolve issues raised by teams such as Global AML Operations, FIU, and 1st line teams (Retail, Wealth, Fraud, etc.).
- Manage the yearly or frequent review of process documentation owned by the team and identify opportunities to improve processes.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Identify solutions or develop programs to support Enterprise AML Risk in automating repeated processes, including alert reviews and periodic file preparations.
- Provide analytical support for ad hoc initiatives and issue resolution. Conduct analytical and system training to facilitate knowledge transfer and methodology standardization.
- Conduct ad hoc support to first-line partners with quarterly or annual periodic reviews of high-risk processes.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Expert knowledge of Canadian Banking, International Banking, Tangerine, Wealth Management, and Global Banking and Markets business unit functions, procedures, cash management and payment products, policies, and how the various supporting units interact.
- Thorough written and verbal skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with other Bank departments and external parties.
- Successful AML Program remediation and/or transformation experience.
- ACAMS certification preferred.
- Strong managerial, communication, analytical, organizational, project management, and planning skills.
- Thorough knowledge of related regulatory requirements including KYC, AML, Anti-Terrorist Financing Policies, Compliance Control & Operational Risk Self-Assessments legislation and procedures.
- Expert knowledge of AML/ATF regulatory requirements and expectations, as well as specific regulatory expectations and industry practices related to transaction monitoring controls.
- Possess excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated track record of collaborating in team environments and taking the lead to drive results.
- Exceptionally self-motivated and self-directed.
- Ability to identify issues and root causes and provide solutions without leadership direction.
- Excellent presentational skills; outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Experienced in putting together executive materials and presenting to senior leaders (VP+).
- Degree in business, finance, social sciences, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience, or educational equivalent, in compliance or business administration within a financial institution setting or professional services/management consulting firm.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of AML-related software/systems.
- Strong technology background.
- Project Management Professional designation and/or Agile certification, an asset.
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset.
