Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support the end-to-end payroll process for a large workforce across Canada. This role is a 6 month contract located hybrid on Oakville, Ontario.
In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while also helping support internal teams, answer payroll inquiries, and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle, biweekly payroll for thousands of employees across multiple regions.
- Ensure payroll data is accurate and complete, including time tracking, bonuses, vacation pay, retroactive adjustments, and other earnings.
- Work with HR to confirm proper documentation and approvals are in place.
- Resolve employee questions related to pay, deductions, and payroll policies.
- Analyze payroll reports, run queries, and help with reconciliations and audits.
- Support payroll-related projects and provide insight on how HR policies impact payroll.
What You Bring
- 3–4 years of hands-on experience with payroll systems; experience with Workday is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation including ESA, CRA, and provincial guidelines.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with data and reports.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to stay focused under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
