As the Director, Engineering, you will lead the engineering strategy and execution of digital personalization platforms that power 1:1 experiences across our retail banking ecosystem.
Reporting to the Head of Personalization & Commerce Engineering, this leadership role is central to enabling customer-centric journeys and enterprise personalization at scale. You’ll partner with business partners, digital product and design, data science, marketing, and channel teams to build capabilities that support segmentation, next-best actions, and personalized offers across mobile, web, contact centre and branch channels.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:


•    Lead a team of engineering teams delivering scalable personalization platforms
•    Oversee the development and integration of real-time and batch personalization services into key customer touchpoints
•    Collaborate with enterprise partners in Analytics, Marketing, and Digital Product to co-create end-to-end personalization solutions
•    Drive the evolution of the personalization technology stack using modern frameworks and cloud-native services (e.g., GCP, Adobe AEP, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, PEGA CDH)
•    Ensure engineering excellence through robust SDLC practices, site reliability, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and operational readiness
•    Translate business and customer needs into technical strategies and delivery roadmaps
•    Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team that thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment
•    Contribute to broader Canadian Banking Engineering leadership, supporting talent development, tech strategy, and cross-functional initiatives

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

•    10+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
•    Proven success delivering customer-facing digital platforms in financial services, e-commerce, or large-scale consumer environments
•    Expertise in a modern tech stack, including decisioning engines, event streaming, customer data platforms, and experimentation frameworks
•    Hands-on knowledge of modern engineering tools and practices: microservices, cloud platforms (preferably GCP), APIs, containers, and DevOps
•    Strong understanding of data engineering, AI/ML integration, and marketing technology ecosystems
•    Exceptional leadership, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills
•    A customer-first mindset with the ability to align technical delivery with business outcomes
