Accountant – Financial Planning & Reporting, 7 Month Contract
Location: Surrey, BC | Full-time | Hybrid (Remote to start, 2 days in office after mid-September)
Our public sector client is seeking an experienced Accountant to support financial planning, reporting, and strategic analysis for a 7 month contract.
This role involves a blend of budgeting, forecasting, capital project costing, and managing ad hoc financial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across departments
Prepare and review financial reports, models, and business cases
Support compliance, internal controls, and year-end reporting
Assist in the development and maintenance of financial systems and processes
Collaborate with stakeholders on capital planning and grant-related initiatives
Supervise and mentor team members as needed
Qualifications:
CPA designation in good standing
2+ years of progressive financial/accounting experience, including supervisory or team lead duties
Strong knowledge of budgeting, program costing, and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, index/match, VLOOKUP)
Experience in public sector or unionized environments is preferred
Familiarity with grant funding, audit preparation, and working across departments
Start Date: Mid-August
Contract End Date: March 31, 2026
Interview Panel: 3-person panel, in person at Langley office
Remote Work: Fully remote until mid-September, then hybrid model (2 days onsite).
