Role Purpose

The Senior Agile Delivery Manager – Data Engineering is responsible for leading the successful delivery of data products within the international banking domain. This role blends the responsibilities of a Scrum Master, data delivery expert, and stakeholder liaison, ensuring that Data Engineering teams operate effectively within Agile frameworks. The ideal candidate will drive collaboration, eliminate delivery obstacles, and align team efforts with strategic business goals to enable data-driven decision-making across global banking operations.

This is a strategic leadership role that ensures the seamless delivery of innovative, compliant, and high-impact data products for international banking. The successful candidate will drive agility, foster collaboration, and enable data excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agile Leadership: Serve as Scrum Master, facilitating Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) to promote collaboration, continuous improvement, and high-performance delivery.
  • End-to-End Data Delivery: Oversee the full lifecycle of data product delivery—including data pipelines, analytics platforms, and reporting tools—ensuring alignment with business needs, data quality standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, Basel III).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact between Data Engineering teams and global stakeholders (business units, compliance, senior leadership). Translate business objectives into actionable technical deliverables and manage expectations through clear, consistent communication.
  • Impediment Resolution: Proactively identify and remove blockers—technical, organizational, or stakeholder-related—to maintain delivery momentum and team focus.
  • Team Coaching & Enablement: Mentor and empower Data Engineering teams to adopt Agile best practices, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, and continuously enhance both technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key delivery metrics (e.g., sprint velocity, product quality, stakeholder satisfaction) to drive process improvements and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Risk & Compliance Oversight: Ensure all data products comply with international banking regulations and internal governance standards by working closely with risk and compliance teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees and certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe Agilist, PMP, PMI-ACP) are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in Agile project management or Scrum Master roles, with at least 3 years focused on data-centric initiatives (e.g., data engineering, analytics, data warehousing).
  • Proven experience delivering data solutions in the banking or financial services sector, with a strong understanding of international regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, MiFID II).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage senior stakeholders in complex, global, matrixed environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps) and data engineering workflows (e.g., ETL, data pipelines, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality frameworks, and compliance standards in regulated industries.

Core Competencies

  • Outstanding communication and facilitation skills to bridge technical and business domains.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution capabilities in high-stakes environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and their application to data engineering projects.
  • Ability to coach teams and stakeholders on Agile principles and data-driven delivery practices.
