The Manager will be a shared resource between the Retail Banking Finance Business lines reporting to and supporting multiple teams.  The Manager will be primarily responsible for Financial Reporting, Planning & Forecasting, Financial Analysis & Visualizations, Reporting Processes re-design and  Anaplan implementation project support. Canadian Banking Finance is a divisional finance function providing financial management and analytical support to Canadian Banking Executive Management, as well as to the Business Line Management in Retail Banking, Small Business, Automotive Lending, Commercial Banking and Tangerine.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

 

  • Monthly & Quarterly Financial Reporting & Analysis
    • Support the team with analysis of portfolio/balance sheet, net interest income, NIM, PCL, expenses and key performance metrics
    • Identify main drivers of interest profit and expenses at the business unit and product levels
    • Provide meaningful and relevant analysis and commentary for monthly and quarter-end reporting (including the Blue Book) and other management reporting
  • Financial Analytics & Visualization
    • Review existing reporting processes, recommend and implement improvements to existing financial analysis using Power BI
    • Apply visualization best practices to improve the communication and understandability of financial information
    • Perform value-add deep-dives and ad-hoc analysis to provide actionable insights and communicate these to business stakeholders.
  • Reporting Processes Re-design
    • Review existing data/excel reporting processes and make recommendations for improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
    • The above will involve being comfortable with our legacy reporting stack which includes various data sources from: Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Access databases and Excel.
    • Implement approved process re-design solutions using the data processing tools available (Python, Alteryx, Excel)
  • Anaplan Implementation Project
    • Support in the creation of business requirement documents and user acceptance testing
    • Create and submit data upload files as needed
    • Update project documentation
  • Process Documentation
    • Create detailed job-aids, training materials, desktop procedures and documentation of the current reporting and forecasting processes

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • University degree (Analytics, Finance, or quantitative discipline)
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant experience
  • A solid understanding of data visualization best practices to create compelling financial dashboards
  • Demonstrated experience in reporting processes re-design to increase data efficiency and accuracy
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills; attention to details; ability to analyze business results and identify issues and trends
  • Advanced user proficiency with applications: Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and any other analytical tools are preferred (e.g. Python, Alteryx)
  • Prior experience working within an Agile team and/or system implementation is considered an asset
  • A good understanding of financial and management reporting principles
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate findings/analysis and present ideas in a clear and concise manner
