About the Role
Our is undertaking a major transformation to modernize its financial and asset management frameworks through the Long-Term Asset Sustainability and Accrual Budgeting (LTAS-AB) initiative. As part of this enterprise-wide change, we are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support the development and implementation of a new integrated IM/IT system.
This role is critical in ensuring data integrity, system efficiency, and alignment with federal policies, and will help enable predictable, long-term capital funding for a resilient and sustainable asset portfolio.
What You’ll Do
As the Database Administrator, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Customize and optimize database conversion routines and finalize the conversion strategy in collaboration with stakeholders.
Generate new databases with the client to support the new IM/IT system framework.
Maintain data dictionaries and ensure clear, consistent metadata management.
Develop and implement procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data stored in the database.
Design and enforce robust security procedures for the database, including access controls and user account management.
Provide guidance to programmers, analysts, and users on efficient database usage and best practices.
Maintain configuration control and coordinate design updates to the database structure.
Manage and control changes to the database, including record deletions, modifications, and additions.
Develop and coordinate database backup, disaster recovery, and virus protection procedures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions align with project and policy requirements, including those from the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS).
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Database Administrator supporting large-scale enterprise or government IT systems.
Strong knowledge of database architecture, security, backup/recovery, and performance optimization.
Experience supporting database migration or conversion projects.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and configuration control processes.
Ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative environment.
Valid Secret-level Security Clearance (or ability to obtain it promptly).
