The position is responsible for directly managing insurance clients that are not assigned to a relationship manager on their policy, providing in-force policy support and new business support to licensed advisors and Branch Managers within an assigned region. This role will also manage Segregated fund support from a sales and service perspective to all Advisors nationally.


Accountabilities

• Acts as the main point of contact for National Branch licensed advisors in assigned territory who have questions and require support related to their in-force policy management activities. This includes delivering training to advisors on accessing policy details within Centralize and best practices for servicing activities; reviewing statements and notices as they are distributed to the Agent of Record; and flagging any policies that require attention; undertaking policy analysis; requesting in-force illustrations; and providing any necessary paperwork to advisors.

• Proactively reviews a subset of in-force permanent life insurance policies at key milestones in order to identify any potential issues that might lead to future client concerns related to the performance of their policy. This may include collaborating with advisors and SWIS colleagues in determining the best approach to address issues and mitigate any risks.

• Identifies any complex opportunities (UL/WL) to introduce an insurance consultant into an inforce policy where there may be new business potential, such as conversions, reapplications, or secondary sales. This includes proactively reviewing their in-force block of business for such opportunities (Term, CI, DI) and partnering with ICs in a particular region.

• Provide segregated fund and GIA support to licensed advisors. This includes answering questions and providing guidance related to new sales & applications; redirecting advisors to the segregated fund wholesalers; and maintaining product details online. This also includes assisting with managing Segregated fund escalations and complaints.

• Provide Support to SWIS management relating to client escalations and special other projects to help SWIS Head Office deliver on its national mandates, including supporting centralize and its nationwide adoption.

• Stay Informed with Industry changes relating to the sale of Insurance products, with added focus towards Segregated funds, GIA and Training requirement for new licensees.

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

The Insurance Consultant & Servicing Manager must have:
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within the life insurance industry coupled with a university degree (or equivalent education)
LLQP in Ontario
• Willingness to get life licensed in all provincial jurisdictions
• Experience working with permanent life insurance and working knowledge of insurance carrier illustrations, software and advisor portals 
• Knowledge of the estate planning uses for life insurance including corporate owned life insurance strategies
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal with sensitive and difficult client situations in a gracious and professional manner
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team, as well as to readily embrace change and thrive in an ever-changing environment
• Be well organized, goal driven and action oriented, while demonstrating pro-activity, initiative and resourcefulness
• Service oriented with a high value placed on rapid and high-quality responses
• Demonstrated experience with segregated funds product sales and servicing
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows and its applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Outlook


It is desirable that the incumbent also has
• Fluency in English and French
• The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) designations 


Working Conditions:

• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically.
