The Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is currently welcoming a full-time Team Lead Registered Veterinary Technologist for Emergency RVTs to join our team.

Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is a fully functioning referral hospital, with board-certified specialists in a wide range of referral services including: internal medicine, critical care, surgery, radiology, medical and radiation oncology, cardiology, neurology, emergency and rehabilitation services. Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is committed to supporting pet owners and the veterinary community by providing the highest level of animal emergency and referral care.

The successful candidate will support and direct the Emergency RVT team in a professional and kind manner while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co-worker questions.

The Emergency RVT Supervisor will also work closely with the hospital's leadership team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the betterment of the hospital. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently on your own and with the team.

  • Training and orientation for new team members,

  • Creating an equitable schedule for the team

  • Coordinating vacation coverage

  • Cross-training within the hospital departments,

  • Assist in performance management

  • Involvement in patient treatments as necessary to support the ER team and overall hospital support.  

Schedule: This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position that can be flexible to meet your individual needs. Our Emergency department runs 24 hours a day/7 days a week, but the position does not necessarily need to encompass all shift hours. Typically, a 4x10-hour schedule is accommodated, filling in on the floor where required to assist.
