Job Description:
Duties: As a College committed to dismantling systems of oppression and fostering a sense of belonging for equity-deserving students and staff, Fanshawe seeks to operationalize its equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) infrastructure through research-informed, evidence-based, and strategic operationalization. Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Equity Strategy and Community Engagement Consultant will be a strategic and trusted resource in the Centre for EDI and will play a leading role in shepherding the College through its EDI journey. They will provide equity-informed and trauma-informed confidential support and advice to Fanshawe students, staff, and administrators on issues pertaining to EDI and anti-oppression.
The Consultant will bring a combination of lived, professional, and educational experiences to actualize the College’s EDI commitments. They will be responsible for providing the Director with research on EDI best practices, identifying appropriate metrics, and leading an evaluation strategy for the College’s EDI activities. They will serve as the main College resource for implementing and operationalizing the activities identified in the EDI Strategic Framework, A College Where We Belong, and more importantly, the new five-year EDI Action Plan. They will also support and provide conflict resolution services for staff and students who have encountered equity-related challenges – both interpersonal and systemic – at the College and identify pathways to resolution. The Consultant will also act as a trusted advisor for College leaders, advising them on equity-informed lenses to core College activities and on emerging and urgent EDI issues, as they arise at the College.

In order to achieve this objective, managers are required to be active in health and safety and incident prevention by establishing and adhering to procedures and safe work practices as required by the corporate health and safety management system, and in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in an equity-related field with a major original research component (e.g., social sciences, humanities, HR management).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in providing full-cycle support in EDI strategic planning, including initiation of strategic planning and visioning, identification of actionable plans, implementation of actionable plans, and assessing the impact of EDI plans
Minimum 3 years’ experience in demonstrated success in navigating full-cycle EDI implementation in post-secondary organizations with diverse student and staff needs, including a comprehensive knowledge of the unique barriers facing international students
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Demonstrated ability to bridge academic theory, professional acumen, and lived experience to drive transformative and sustainable change
Demonstrated expertise in providing strategic, equity-informed guidance to senior leaders and community members, with a focus on system-level change
Proven experience independently resolving equity-related concerns using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches, including conflict mediation and informal resolution practices
Advanced knowledge of current and emerging equity, human rights, and accessibility legislation, including AODA and OHRC policy guidance
Experience in equity-focused research methodologies, including data analysis, evaluation design, and development of key performance indicators.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, lead working groups, and drive cross-functional initiatives
Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse constituencies
