The Portfolio Administrator is a subject matter expert in various functional areas including but not limited to derivative processing and settlements, collateral management, reconciliations. They are also responsible for administrative functions related to account setups and documentation. The Portfolio Administrator will provide day-day support for middle office functions by ensuring post trade activities are monitored and/or administered in a timely and efficient manner. 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Process operational/administrative transactions related to derivatives and other financial products within Portfolio Administration
  • Ensure any potential risks to the business are addressed, alleviating errors to reduce firm exposure
  • Provide daily coverage on the Derivatives desk and assigned tasks
  • Ensure account information is accurate in the systems and on daily/weekly/monthly reports via timely reconciliations between system and external data sources
  • Participate in the review of processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and mitigate risks
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of operational enhancements
  • Ensure deadlines are met and appropriate escalations are in place
  • Adhere to departmental and company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance
  • Assist the Manager/Assistance Manager in onboarding various brokers for trading derivative and other financial products
  • Liaise with the Trades and Portfolio Managers to ensure trades are accurately reflected and issues are resolved and mitigated
  • Process derivative related corporate actions
  • Investigate & follow up on inquiries as required
  • Collaborate with internal partners as required
  • Liaise between external counterparties (brokers, custodians, etc.) and internal departments as it relates to portfolio administration activities
  • Provide reports and statistical information to management as required
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • University degree or college diploma
  • 3+ years of relevant securities industry experience
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or actively pursuing, Derivatives Fundamentals Course (DFC) or actively pursuing, is an asset 
  • Strong knowledge of the securities / brokerage industry, including Clearing and Settlements market processes and Margin and Collateral processing for Derivative holdings
  • Derivative related knowledge/experience
  • Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with Charles River, Simcorp Dimension, SSCNet, Markitwire, Bloomberg and CTM products is an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office (medium/expert user of Excel, familiar with Access)
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying transaction volumes dictated by market events, client demands and seasonal peaks
  • A goal oriented mindset with the ability to function independently and in a team environment
