What you will be doing:

As Product Design Lead – Digital Wealth, you will play a key role in shaping Tangerine’s digital wealth experiences across spending, saving, borrowing, and investing journeys. Reporting to the Head of Digital Experience, you will lead design strategy and execution across multiple squads, helping deliver next-generation solutions that are client-centric, data-informed, and aligned with our business goals. You will be responsible for building intuitive, inclusive, and engaging user experiences, while partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing to bring those experiences to life. As our team grows you will have the opportunity to expand your leadership experience as you guide and mentor new team members. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Design Leadership for Digital Wealth
    •    Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of product and experience designers embedded in agile squads.
    •    Collaborate with the Head of Digital Experience to define the strategic design vision for Tangerine’s digital wealth platform.
    •    Champion design quality and user experience consistency across channels and capabilities (mobile, web, advisor tools).
    •    Create and manage scalable design systems and patterns that support agility and innovation.
    •    Coordinate with Tangerine Bank’s Digital Experience teams, including maintaining alignment with Tangerine Design standards.

  • Client & Experience Leadership
    •    Advocate for client-centricity by championing user research, usability testing, and inclusive design practices.
    •    Translate insights into elegant, practical solutions that drive client engagement and satisfaction.
    •    Ensure experiences meet accessibility standards and reflect Tangerine’s brand voice and values.
    •    Represent the client perspective in prioritization and product decisions, in collaboration with product owners and business leads.

  • Collaboration & Influence
    •    Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Analytics to define, validate, and iterate on concepts throughout the product development lifecycle.
    •    Facilitate design reviews and workshops to bring cross-functional alignment on critical experience decisions.
    •    Act as a thought partner to leaders and an advocate for agile and iterative design practices.
    •    Support cross-functional squads in navigating stakeholder alignment and unlocking blockers to execution.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 8+ years of experience in digital product design, UX/UI, or service design, including 3+ years in a design leadership role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end experience design for digital platforms, ideally in fintech, banking, or enterprise environments.
  • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary design teams in agile product development contexts.
  • Post-secondary education in Design, HCI, Digital Media, or related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools, with experience in design systems at scale.
  • Strong grasp of interaction design, information architecture, and usability heuristics.
  • Familiarity with research tools and methods including journey mapping, usability testing, and A/B testing.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Highly collaborative and adaptable, with a growth mindset and passion for coaching others.
  • A strategic thinker who thrives in complexity and is energized by creating clarity and impact.
  • Deep empathy for clients and a strong belief in the power of design to transform financial experiences.
