Role Description

Reporting to the Vice President- Retail, National Marketing, the Marketing Manager at The Post Vancouver is responsible for the overall planning and execution of marketing activities designed to launch and elevate The Post’s brand, while generating buzz, customer awareness, traffic and retail sales as well as work in partnership with the Office Property & Marketing team. Located at 658 Homer in Vancouver’s Crosstown neighbourhood, The Post is the revitalization of a historic landmark, the Canada Post building in downtown Vancouver. The project — one of the most ambitious heritage redevelopment projects in Canada’s history — is comprised of over 1.1 million sq.ft. of office space and 185,000 sq.ft. of retail.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day marketing of The Post.
  • Prepare and execute an annual strategic marketing plan outlining short and long-term strategies for all aspects of the marketing portfolio including traditional and non-traditional media, public relations, special events, social media, interactive, customer service, and tenant relations.
  • Build and foster strategic partnerships with local institutions to establish arts and culture programming on site
  • Prepare and manage the annual marketing budget including creating support schedules, coding and processing payables, analyzing variances, and reporting on the budget as requested.
  • Develop and produce all marketing communications materials including marketing collateral and print, broadcast, digital and environmental media.
  • Develop, plan and execute consumer and community-based events including developing event concepts and timelines, securing sponsors, coordinating volunteers, hiring vendors, obtaining swag bag items, hiring temporary staff, completing requisite insurance-related paperwork, and preparing an event post-mortem.
  • Actively collaborate with the Marketing & Tenant Engagement team (Office) to incorporate and leverage office tenants into retail programming.
  • Act as an ambassador for The Post, and proactively seek out meaningful partnerships with like-minded organizations, cultural institutions and arts organizations to cement The Post’s positioning as a cultural hub in Vancouver
  • Seek out revenue generating opportunities for the property such as, but not limited to brand activations, parking revenue ideation and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Serve as editor-in-chief of the website including producing content and content schedules, keeping the website fresh at all times, etc.
  • Ultimate responsibility for all of The Post’s social channels including content strategy and planning, social listening and response, ongoing tracking and reporting.
  • Foster positive tenant, consumer, community and philanthropic relationships.
  • Coordinate public relations efforts that position The Post in a favourable light, creates interest in the property and promotes special events as well as; increases exposure of tenants, builds relations with key media, and enhances the overall perception of the property.
  • Conduct and evaluate primary and secondary research, as needed, to evaluate program effectiveness, assist with planning, assess competition and be proactive in marketing efforts.
  • Assist Leasing, as needed, through research and marketing efforts with the collective goal of achieving 100% tenant occupancy.
  • Explore and integrate emerging AI and technology trends to advance marketing initiatives
  • Work hand-in-glove with property management team and other property stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular marketing meetings, staff meetings, one-on-one retailer meetings, agency/vendor briefings, etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Superior oral and written communication skills (specifically, editing and copywriting).
  • Self-starter, who can work independently and under pressure
  • Proven social media and digital marketing experience.
  • Event planning and execution experience mandatory.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker with proven creative and innovative approach to doing things.
  • Possess a positive, “can do” attitude.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines.
  • Advanced MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or Business preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years marketing/communications experience.
  • Experience working in retail or shopping centre industry in a marketing or communications capacity considered a strong asset.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000

The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
