Our client working in the Non-Profit industry is seeking two experienced Project Managers to lead complex, national-level initiatives that aim to improve licensing pathways and workplace integration for internationally trained professionals across Canada. These are not traditional technical PM roles — we’re looking for senior professionals who thrive in ambiguous environments, can align multiple stakeholders, and drive strategic initiatives in a highly collaborative, evolving space.
These roles would be working on a long term contract until March 2027, working in a hybrid model of one day onsite in Ottawa per week.
These positions sit within a new Strategic Portfolio Management function and will report to the Senior Portfolio Manager. Each Project Manager will lead a key workstream:
Stream 1: Developing Pathways to Practice
Key Activities:
- Work with internal experts to map current pathways and create user-friendly tools and resources.
- Support ongoing initiatives to simplify and communicate these pathways nationally.
- Act as a business solution partner, drawing out requirements from internal stakeholders and shaping practical project plans.
- Light technical understanding needed to guide conversations with internal IT/solutions teams (no hands-on development or implementation work).
Stream 2: Creating a Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA)
Focus: Enhancing and standardizing province-level programs that allow internationally trained professionals to gain Canadian clinical experience.
Key Activities:
- Collaborate with provincial medical regulatory authorities (MRAs), academic institutions, and national bodies to align on assessment practices.
- Support the development and implementation of national WBA tools and processes.
- Lead multi-stakeholder conversations, drive clarity, and ensure consistent communication and engagement across jurisdictions.
What You’ll Do Across Both Roles
- Lead full project life cycle delivery for a portfolio of high-impact health workforce initiatives.
- Develop charters, project plans, risk logs, and reporting dashboards.
- Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholders — internal teams, external partners, regulatory bodies, and academic institutions.
- Ensure high-quality outcomes by balancing structure with flexibility and strong interpersonal engagement.
- Report to and work closely with a supportive, senior leader who helps shape program vision and keep delivery aligned.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–7 years of experience in senior project or program management (Nonprofit healthcare, education, or public sector preferred).
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills — you’ve worked with government, national associations, or sector-wide partners before.
- Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity — this is not a rigid PM role; adaptability is key.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Background working with workforce development, licensing, regulatory pathways, or medical education is a strong asset, but not required.
- Comfortable in a consultative, problem-solving environment — ideally having worked in or alongside strategic project offices.
- Some technical literacy is helpful but not mandatory — you won’t be managing software builds, but should understand how to liaise with tech/solutions teams.
- Ability to work on site one day/week in Ottawa
Nice-to-Haves
- PMP, Agile/Scrum certifications, or similar credentials.
- Experience working on federally funded programs or with grants/contribution agreements.
- Familiarity with Canadian health system stakeholders (e.g., MRAs, Royal College, provincial ministries of health).
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
