We are working with a Federal Government client seeking two Technical Writers to join them for a 1-year contract. 
The Writers will be supporting the development of documents for an ongoing project.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and document statements of requirements for considered alternatives;
  • Perform business analyses of functional requirements to identify information, procedures, and decision flows;
  • Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and document items such as database content, structure, application subsystems;
  • Define and document interfaces of manual to automated operations within application subsystems, to external systems, and between new and existing systems;
  • Establish acceptance test criteria with client; and
  • Support and use the selected departmental methodologies.
  • Development of technical documents specific to the project to enable industry engagement and progression of the project through project governance gateways.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Secret Government Security Clearance.
  • Achieved the Operationally Functional Point (OFP) within a military occupation.
  • Recent experience writing technical documents, such as technical data packages or project management documents; and writing Requests for information and/or proposals for major Federal Government projects.
  •  5 years of experience with the Microsoft Office Suite 2013 or later (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Recent experience working on creating and reviewing Technical Data Packages (TDP) and/or Request for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) in support of Major Federal Government Projects.
Education
  • Holds a post-secondary education (College/CEGEP diploma or University degree) from a recognized* Canadian post-secondary institution or the equivalent as established by a recognized* Canadian academic credentials assessment service, if obtained outside of Canada, in one of the following areas:
    • Technical Communication
    • Technical Writing
    • Engineering
    • Communications
    • Sciences
