Our federal government client is seeking the services of a Bilingual Lead Negotiator, Collective Bargaining, to join their team. This is a 1-year remote contract with 2 optional periods. Travel to Calgary will be required on an as-needed basis.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Act as a resource and provide advice on the negotiation strategy.
  • Conduct preparatory meetings for collective bargaining
  • Determine and coordinate the gathering and preparation of information required for negotiations
  • Prepare draft proposals and final proposals
  • Lead and conduct negotiations, including preparing and recommending bargaining positions, responses and strategies, and drafting effective contract language.
  • Participate in a debriefing session with management on completed negotiations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience acting as a chief employer negotiator in several rounds of collective bargaining
  • At least one round of collective bargaining experience in the federal public service
  • Expertise in all aspects of collective bargaining, including dispute resolution processes and/or dealing with strike action
  • Must have experience acting as principal employer representative in conciliation, mediation, and/or arbitration proceedings
  • Reliability clearance
