We are seeking a proactive, organized, and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join a Family Health Clinic in downtown Toronto on a permanent basis.
This front-line role is vital in supporting the smooth operation of the clinic, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients, and facilitating effective clinical workflows. The successful candidate will be responsible for triaging patient enquiries, booking appointments, and coordinating administrative functions with efficiency and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients in person and via phone with professionalism and empathy.
- Conduct initial triage of patient to determine urgency and appropriate scheduling.
- Escalate urgent or complex clinical issues to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling across multiple practitioners and services.
- Ensure accurate entry and maintenance of patient information and appointment details in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Process new patient registrations and update existing patient records.
- Manage correspondence including referrals, results, and follow-ups in collaboration with clinical staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient data in line with privacy legislation and clinic policy.
- Manage incoming calls, emails, and faxes, ensuring prompt and courteous responses.
Skills & Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a medical administration or healthcare receptionist role.
- Previous experience with triaging.
- Experience working in a Family Medical Clinic or Walk-in Clinic preferred.
- Proficiency with a medical software system.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure.
