Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) provides essential support for individuals that are not able to make personal or financial decisions. It offers guardianship and trusteeship services, administers estates, and manages benefits. OPGT also oversees capacity assessments, investigates complaints regarding decision-makers, and provides guidance on advance planning and personal directives. The Alberta Public Trustee protects and administers the estates of vulnerable Albertans, specifically the estates of minors, people with mental disabilities, and deceased persons’ estates, where there is no one else able to act. The Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT) maintains the highest legal and business standards while ensuring that clients are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Reporting to the Assistant Public Trustee, the Manager, Trust Administration is responsible for the effective delivery of legislative and administrative services pertaining to vulnerable Albertans. This position is results-oriented and focused on providing leadership through developing others, effective problem solving, making timely decisions, and using innovation within the relevant legislative and policy frameworks of the Public Trustee, so that client service needs are met. This position is also responsible for building effective linkages and alliances within and outside of the OPGT so that client needs are optimized.
As a leader of the Calgary Trust Administration Delivery Team, this position is accountable for the following duties:
