Company Overview
We are assisting our telecom client - a global leader in delivering innovative communications solutions with the search for a Senior Systems Designer (SIP/SBC Specialist).
Location: Gatineau (Hybrid – 2 days on-site/week)
Duration: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: $105,000 – 125,000 per year
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and recommend solutions for complex technical problems and unique network scenarios.
- Design, plan, and implement critical, high-availability network infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2/3 networks, SIP protocols, and advanced routing technologies such as HSRP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Deploy and manage Cisco, HP/Aruba, and Fortinet networking equipment including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in SIP engineering, including SIP traffic configuration and troubleshooting, BCFs, and SBCs.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and executives, tailoring the technical depth to the audience.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams on complex technical projects as needed.
- Diagnose and resolve network issues, outages, and performance bottlenecks promptly.
Requirements:
- Expertise in VoIP technologies, including SIP, RTP, and their secure versions.
- Strong experience with the configuration and deployment of Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
- Deep knowledge of SIP configuration and troubleshooting.
- Advanced understanding of dynamic routing protocols (HSRP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Proven experience managing Fortinet firewalls and other security appliances.
- Familiarity with VoIP PBX systems and media gateways.
- 10+ years of expert-level industry experience in a similar environment.
- Demonstrated ability to support mission-critical, high-availability network environments.
- Experience working with public safety or emergency communication networks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative in both individual and team settings.
