Elections Alberta is an independent, non-partisan office of the Legislature. Elections Alberta is responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda. Role Responsibilities

Note: This a temporary salaried position of up to 12 months with a possibility of extension for the purpose of leave coverage. 

 

As the Strategic Engagement Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Elections Alberta’s outreach strategy and play a crucial role in cultivating meaningful connections and partnerships for our organization. Your cultural competence, knowledge of engagement strategies, and strategic vision will be instrumental in creating and executing strategic initiatives that build and maintain relationships with key external groups, including Canadian Forces, disabled persons, ethnocultural communities, homeless/sheltered, incarcerated, Indigenous, new Canadians, seniors, teachers, youth, and more.

 

You will identify solutions to enhance the voting experience, eliminate voting barriers, and promote general awareness of democracy, elections, and civic participation. You will obtain feedback, compile data, and analyze findings, and collaborate with the Elections Alberta leadership team to develop the work plan, define performance measures, and identify recommendations for consideration on further outreach initiatives and service enhancements. As a Team Lead, you will direct the work of the team to expand Elections Alberta’s reach and impact.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, or in a related field, plus a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience; or other equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Proven leadership skills in building a productive and positive team environment.
  • Knowledge of outreach and engagement strategies for diverse groups and organizations.
  • Knowledge of project and event management principles and practices with the ability to undertake multiple projects concurrently while maintaining flexibility, political acuity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate intercultural competency, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to identify engagement approaches and techniques based upon key groups or organization’s needs.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, and readily assess and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining resilience and working effectively in changing environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills to build networks and trusting relationships with colleagues and external groups.
  • Fluency in English is required, with the ability to communicate in additional languages is considered an asset.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with work experience in election administration.

Notes

This position is exempt from the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE). Final Candidates will be required to undergo a Police Information Check.
